"So in the past year, I’ve been messing around with game development with the software Godot! And I’ve been having a ton of fun! My big goal this summer was to make a game start to finish! was bouncing around game ideas once summer started, “five night at Freddy's fan fiction,” “dress up game???”, etc. I was really overwhelmed with the idea of balancing making a game over the summer and doing Art Fight. All the projects I wanted to do were big projects, and I am still learning to code </3. Then it clicks “BRO JUST MAKE A ARTFIGHT ATTACK GAME ?????” and now here we are."

Walk cycle progression

With this project, the hardest thing by far was animating. This realization was surprising. Initially, I thought the hardest thing by far would've been coding the project. But no, evil, evil, evil walk cycles got the better of me.

Sprite Mockups

The first day, I did some mockup sketches of the sprite, reusing some old sketches to have a placeholder while I coded. None of these made it into the game itself, since I adjusted the point of view of 2/3 perspective to either front view or side view.

The Scrapped Cutscene

Initially, I dreamed pretty big; however, animation is a wretched thing.....

(It's wretched because I am bad at it and hate it)

Level Design

The initial level design involved more ways for the player to die... aka killer crabs!!!!

The main reason that these crabs were scrapped was that when a player died, it reset all the progress a player made, and I didn't want the game to be completely frustrating... I also didn't want to add checkpoints or auto save......
